Lynn Realizes Her Dream

We woke up with the sun streaming in the window and on to our beds in The Spire. It was such a beautiful day outside. This morning I did not feel beautiful. I was so tired I was afraid to move. I woke up and just lay there and did not move a muscle. Lynn jumped up with zeal. That’s youth for you. We had been going without stopping. I had come to the end of my strength and needed a rest.

I wasn’t sure how to tell Lynn how I felt. It hurt my pride to tell her I was tired. I felt confused about what to say. Finally I did tell her I was just too tired to run around today. I was surprised that Lynn did not care at all! Lynn decided to go to the mountain and take a guided tour. She promised me she would not go it on her own in any way. She would stay with the group. I let her go reluctantly.

Lynn would finally get to mountain climb! It was a dream come true for her. In thinking about it, I would have slowed her pace. She can walk faster and climb higher than I could.

Lynn pulled out one of the new outfits she had picked out on her shopping day on our first day in Denver. She had tough looking boots. She looked well equipped for the hike. She left and said she would stop somewhere on the way for breakfast, and she was gone. Just like that, she was gone.

I spent the day in the hotel room. I did worry about Lynn, but I was very happy to read and crochet. I had all my meals brought up to the room. It was a wonderful rest.

Later, as it was beginning to get dark, Lynn came home. She had a radiant smile on her face. She had a wonderful time. She was too tired to go out for supper, so we had supper sent up to our room.

Lynn was in bed asleep before I even got into my pajamas. I was glad she was back, safe and sound. She had realized her dream. It would have been unfair for her to return home to Texas with that goal unfulfilled. I went to bed and fell asleep a happy woman.
